In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "A strange encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations echo through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden group.

The mission focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Changes

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Addition

This patch also adds the game's third complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
