Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
