Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
