The tall defender A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, as always, perhaps is an alternative to his teammate at the back instead of alongside him. A careless distribution later in the match nearly resulted in an opener for the visitors. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly Another assured performance by the rising star following his initial appearance against Serbia. A teammate was unable to take the opportunity from an exquisite flick behind the opposing backline. The left-back spot is firmly his already. 7/10

Adam Wharton A debut start with the national team. A bit loose when playing out however his dangerous set-pieces posed a danger. A handy tempo-setter available to the boss to have against teams who drop deep. Cautioned after a reckless foul. 6/10

Declan Rice Set-pieces from corners and set-plays caused problems. Was given room to move down the left flank only to be offside as the pass came in shooting positions. Given a merited rest on the hour mark. Six

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward spot down the right while also did plenty of dirty work. Displayed glimpses of brilliance and scuffed a shot high. Substituted late on for Rogers, his competition, after receiving a caution. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's best chance in the opening period, his effort excellently kept out from Thomas Strakosha. With a teammate hanging back, he had to stretch the play down the right side yet his deliveries from wide areas were inconsistent. Replaced late in the match. 6/10

The captain The match-winner scoring 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a typical opportunist's goal while the second a classy finish with his head following a clever run away from the opposition. Aged 32, he continues to improve and England stand a real opportunity in future competitions when he's in the team. 8

The attacker Had difficulty to get into the game out wide. Was presented with a presentable chance following a pass from a teammate but Strakosha made the save. His replacement had a greater an impact when substituted. Five
