The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Reaction
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
