Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have started production, with an additional eleven preparing to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created system known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and proved effective “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six individuals lost their lives and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Moscow's maritime terminal of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended oil exports on Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had launched Neptune cruise missiles and deployed various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted an oil refinery in the Saratov area and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

International Sanctions Impact Russian Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after last month’s restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed once conclusive negotiations have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
